Originally Sheriff's Sub-station #6, Newhall's Sheriff Station was opened
August 26, 1926 on the corner of 6th and San Fernando Rd. It handled all the
law and order business from Chatsworth border into the Antelope Valley.  The
The original Sheriff's force included deputies Howard, Fox, Ernst, Stockwell,
Knuss, Nester and Aikens.  The first captain was J.E.B. Stewart.

Deputies performing forced evictions on "squatters" in Chavez Ravine in 1959.  Numerous
people who had been evicted refused to leave and stayed in their homes for years after eviction
notices were served.  They were finally evicted in 1959 and Dodger Stadium was built on the
site.

Meyer Harris Cohen, known as Mickey Cohen, being booked
into Los Angeles County Jail and after being assaulted by a
lawyer in a courtroom.
