Edward D. Gibson

In November of 1890 voters elected Edward D. Gibson of El Monte as its nineteenth
Sheriff.  He served one term which expired at the end of 1892.
His administrations was uneventful, which, to a law enforcement officer, might well have
been an indicator of success.
Sheriff Gibson was the last Sheriff to occupy an office in the Old County Courthouse,
then located on Spring between Court and Franklin streets.  The building was
demolished in 1893.
The first Sheriff to occupy the office in the New County Courthouse was John C. Cline,
elected in November 1892.
