Left side of jail.
Front of jail.
Right side of jail.
Front door of jail. Open
door is not original.
Close up of right side windows.
View of rear window.
Face front door from inside.
Remains of inmate cells are on
the right.
Graffiti on wall spells out "Black
Hart". This was a nickname of William
S. Hart given to him by himself.
This graffiti is on a wall that was not
accessible to the inmates. Did William
S. Hart scratch his name here?
In the building owners possession and
stored in the jail is the original
Constables desk, over 100 years old.
It should be noted that this building has been rented
and used by a variety of business over the years.
Most recently it was a flower shop. Many of the
flower shop items where left in the building.
The original building did not have the front porch
or the small room addition at the front of the
building. The original building ends just past the
third arched window on the right side.
As of October, 2009, this building is slated to be
demolished to make way for a parking lot for a
planned library across the street. In my opinion
this building should be saved and made an historical
building and preserved.
Front door from inside.
The original lock and key
is still used by the owner.
